Girls and Young Women's Detention Advocacy Project

Description:

YWFC's Girls and Young Women's Detention Advocacy Project provides supportive services to young women ages 14-17 in detention in Juvenile Hall and TAY young women in detention in San Francisco County Jail. Programming is based on YWFC's “Lift Us Up, Don’t Lock Us Down” and provides group based work, in depth one on one support, intensive pre-release planning and court advocacy with both young people and when appropriate their parents or guardians. Detention services staff walk young women through the court process, attend girls court, and provide advocacy with system players.
