Community Building Program (CBP)
Community Building Program (CBP)
Description
Hospitality House’s Community Building Program (CBP) fosters collaboration, belonging, self-worth and resilience within our participants and our communities. We do this by supporting a social justice perspective to community action that promotes leadership development, advocacy, volunteerism, and personal resilience. Last year, 235 community members participated in six CBP-sponsored community events that advocated for important issues, strengthened community collaboration, and activated neighborhood residents. Through the program’s Healing, Organizing, and Leadership Development (HOLD) Internship project, participants build their leadership skills by developing and leading neighborhood events that address community concerns. CBP’s Volunteer Project develops opportunities that connect participants to activities within our programs and the greater community that build their professional skills and enhance their connection to the community. CBP Housing Case Managers specialize in supporting recently-housed individuals in maintaining stable permanent housing. The program also works closely with Hospitality House’s community partners and others on broader advocacy and public policy issues to give neighborhood residents a voice in the process.
