Behavioral Helath Services (BHS )


Description:

Provides behavioral health services in all county jail facilities seven days a week, including day, evening, weekend and holiday coverage. Services include crisis intervention, screening and assessment; individual and group therapy; medication evaluation and management; daily monitoring of the segregated housing unit for chronically impaired inmates; and hospitalization of inmates with acute mental illness at SF General Hospital. BHS operates three psychiatric shelters/living units in the jail, two for men in County Jails #4 and #5, and one for women in County Jail #2.
